    1. What is webPD? The online portal to professional development from Smekens Education, webPD provides engaging video seminars on today’s most relevant reading and writing topics for K-12 teachers.

    2. Who subscribes to webPD? While anyone can subscribe to our on-demand videos, subscriptions are typically purchased by principals and other literacy leaders on behalf of schools.

    1. Who is allowed to watch? Any staff member within your school may be given access to your video subscription. Simply share the username and password for your webPD account. This is one of webPD’s best perks!

    1. Who is NOT allowed to watch? Sharing access to your webPD subscription(s) with anyone outside of your school is strictly prohibited. A violation of this policy will result in a non-refundable cancellation of any and all active subscriptions.

    1. How much does it cost? The cost of each video varies based on the topic, the length of the video, and the length of your subscription. Some videos are available for as little as $49.

    2. Do you have a listing of all the videos on the site? Yes. If you'd like a current and informative listing of all the professional development videos we offer on, download the video catalog.

    1. How often are new videos added? The team at Smekens Education is working year-round to add new videos to webPD. If you would like to be notified when new videos are added, simply add your email to our webPD mailing list.

  1. Can I get continuing education credits for watching webPD videos? While watching professional development videos may fit your state or district’s qualifications for such credits, webPD does not currently offer "proof of participation” to individual viewers. However, schools are encouraged to use their own in-house systems for awarding viewers with continuing education credits.
    1. How do I subscribe to a video? There are three options: subscribe with a credit card; subscribe with an email or fax; or subscribe with a school PO.

    2. How long does a subscription last? If you are ready to subscribe right away, you may choose to subscribe to a video(s) for a 1 or 3 day period. However, many subscribers work with our Professional Development Specialists to configure yearlong subscriptions that include multiple videos.     1. How do I pay? When using a credit card, you can enjoy immediate, on-demand access to your selected webPD video(s). However, school purchase orders are also welcome. To subscribe with a purchase order, simply complete the online order form or download and print the PDF version and return it to Smekens Education.

    1. When does the subscription begin? When purchasing a subscription online with a credit card, you get immediate, on-demand access to your selected video(s). If you choose to use a school purchase order, you will use our online order form (or the printable PDF version) to specify when to begin the subscription. 

  1. What if my subscription ends before I watch my video(s)? When a subscription ends, your selected video(s) will no longer be viewable. As you select your subscription length, make sure you can allocate sufficient time to watch/share your video(s) before the subscription expires. You are welcome to subscribe to the same video(s) multiple times.

  2. Return/Refund policy: Online subscriptions to webPD cannot be returned since service is intangible and access to service is immediate. However, customers who are unsatisfied with their webPD subscription may be granted a full or partial refund, or may be awarded with a credit for a future subscription. When a refund is paid, the amount of the refund will be determined by webPD, and will be based on the number of minutes already viewed, and the number of unique views already utilized by the subscriber.
    1. How long does it take to watch a video? Each pre-recorded video seminar lasts between 30-60 minutes and delivers practical, best-practice strategies on today’s most relevant reading and writing topics for K-12 teachers. (The duration of the video is always listed beneath the title.)

    1. How many times can I watch a video? During the length of your subscription, you can view your selected video(s) over and over again – as often as you’d like!

    1. Is it possible to preview a webPD video? Absolutely! Simply complete the "Take a Test Drive" form on this page or call our office toll free, (888) 376-0448, between 8a.m. and 5p.m. EST. One of our professional development specialists will be happy to arrange a sneak peek of any webPD video. 

  1. What comes with each video? Every video includes a downloadable PDF handout which contains an outline of the video content and ample space for viewers to take notes during the presentation. We recommend that viewers print this file prior to watching the video.
    1. What technology do I need? All you need is an Internet connection and an Internet-connected device such as a computer, tablet, or smartphone.

    2. How fast does my broadband Internet connection need to be to watch instantly? Watching instantly works on all different levels of broadband; however, we recommend a minimum speed of 750 kbps.

    1. Can I watch instantly on my computer? Yes, simply open your Internet browser on your Internet-connected PC or Mac, type in, and you’re there!

    1. Can I watch instantly on my smartphone or tablet too? Yes, as a subscriber, you can watch on your iPad or iPhone, as well as your Android or Windows phone or tablet. Open your device’s Internet browser, type in, and you’re there!

  1. How fast will the video start playing? Fast. Videos should start playing in seconds, but it will depend on the speed of your Internet broadband connection.
